I have never heard of UTIs being heridatary, however babies usually do seem to get them more frequently than adults do and they are common during pregnancy too. If the UTIs continue, you may want to speak to your babies doctor because it may be due to the forumla he is on, or you may need to start givivg him some plain water during the day to help flush his system (this is not the norm anymore, but sometimes still has to be done). Hope this helps, and that everything works out for you and your son.

UTIs in babies are frequently due to vesicouteral reflux, or when the urine from the bladder backs up to the kidneys. This is a serious situation that requires monitoring and often prophylactic antibiotics. As for being hereditary, no, unless it's a matter of malformation, which is hereditary.
