With a low dosage (.25 or .50 mg, xanax is very effective at reducing anxiety without making you too sleepy. More than .50 mg, it makes you quite sleepy and makes it a little difficult to function normally. I wish it worked a little quicker too. It seems to take about an hour to kick in and when your are very anxious that can seem like a long time.
