Pap Tests

I have been getting calls from my OBGYN letting me know that it's time for me to get a pap test done but I keep procrastinating. It just seems like I had one done how often are you supposed to have one done?

Most doctors recommend yearly unless there has been a previous problem in which case it can often be 6 months for a while. I know these tests are uncomfortable and embarrassing but they really could save your life.

I believe yearly. Thats what I do. Unless there is a problem then I think ever 6 months or more often if you are receiving treatments.

I used to work in an OB/GYN office and before menopause everywomen is to have a pap test once a year, if there are any problems with your pap the dr will most likely recommend a 6 mth check-up, After menopause - that really depands on your dr. Some like to continue with the yearly tests others suggest a test every 2 years. I can tell you from personal experience that these are unconfortable, but they can pick up on so many problems that a woman can have and not even know about. I would be sure to go to that appointment.

I haven't had a pap for years. The office keeps sending me those little "suggestions", but I won't be doing another one until I get psyched up for it.

At 52,I am all too willing to wait as long as possible before I have someone half my age doing my pap!
