depo prevera

I was previously on the shot. It took me 19 months to become pregnant after stopping it. I never realize the side effects. my doctor never told mea bout all of this. Why are so many people taking this if it is so bad?!

What have you heard about it? I haven't heard anything in the news that says this has been found to be worse than they thought it was. What have you heard?

I have used it before and I spoke with my doctor about all types of things that could happen after. For me it was bone density since I already know that many in my family have osteoporosis/pernia. 19 months I think is about average too. You gotta think about it, most times on depo your cycle goes away (mine did fully) and it still takes time to get that last shot out of your system too.

I was on the depo shot for 8 yrs and the only real bad side effects that would be a concern was the bone density, and the possibility of it making you have a constant cycle instead of a lighter one or none (the constant bleeding is rare, but does happen to some). I think that it works differently for each person, I had my last shot in July of 07 and I got pregnant in November of 07, and the entire time I was on it I never had a period. It does take time to get out of your system - your system may just take longer to flush things out than mine did.

I have been on and off Depo for 13 years. The only negative I have heard of is bone density also. My sister was also on it and she was pregnant within two months of stopping the shot. I think it depends on the person. If you read the drug information on the package insert it does say it could take a year or longer to become pregnant after stopping the injections.

I heard that people have had hysterectomies(i know that is awesul spelling..sorry) and became infertile. I just stopped it now. The last time I was on it I had to stop due to bone density issues. And it took me 15 months to get pregnant after I stopped.

I never personally tried Depo some friends and my sister did and gained a rather substantial amount of weight which was a huge turn off to me.

I switched from the birth control pill to this depro shot about 12 years ago. I got one shot- and then I got pregnant- I guess it is not 100%- I never went back to the shot again.
