Subject: | The heat! | |
So far it seems like an insane heatwave is running across many states. People are either getting pure rain or constant sun breaking normal average records for this time of year. Im okay in my state as I am used to it, but a friend just recently lose centeral air in her home and is having to deal with window units now. Anyone else trying to beat the heat? And what other ways are you doing so? |

I never use air conditioning. I have fans all around my apartment and all my widows are wide open to catch the ocean air. Always have a cool drink at hand to sip, have a towel that has been in cool water and wrung out and you can use it to cool off your neck and forehead. Don't overdo anything physical and for heaven's sake don't cook or use the oven! Keep with salads of fruit or veggies and eat room temperature meals or chilled ones. And try to not think that this is only the first heat wave we will be living through this year! Summer hasn't even arrived yet and it's 100 freaking degrees. Arggg! |

I live in southern PA and here it has been in the high 80's or 90's (but with the humidity it feels more like 100 +). I cannot use air conditioning because my husband will get sick when in it. I have fans all over the place and windows open. I have been putting fans downstairs to pull cooler (kinda) air in and then put box fans up stairs to blow the hot air out. Another good trick I have found to help cool things down is to take some ice and put it in a dish, then place the dish behind a fan. This seems to cool the air down pretty quick. |

I dont think I have ever been without A/C before, unless it was like broken and fixed within a day or so. Im not sure what I would do with myself since I dont ever do well in heat. |

I don't do well in the heat either and we have had it rough this past week. Right now we just turned the a/c on for the night because I can stand it no more! |

I am another person who doesn't care for or tolerate a lot of high temperatures. It seems summer has gotten here with a flip of a switch instead of gradually. Temperature today will be 103 with heat index of 109. I would never go without air conditioning unless I have to and then I would find a way to get it back and fast! Chris |

I personally love the heat myself as I have to work in it so I am use to it. It is very hard on kids and animals so do take precautions for that. |

It really has not been that hot in Ohio yet so I have been pretty lucky so far. Hopefully it will stay that way. I guess only time will tell if it holds up. |
