What age to stop birth control?

What is a good age to stop taking birth control?

I'm curious to know if there are any dise effects if you take "the pill" for too long?

I have been on the Pill- since I was 22.

I would give your local pharmacist a call or check with your doctor.

I don't know a good age to stop. There are a lot of surprise babies born to women over 40.

I wouldn't stop without being sterilized first.

best advice is to never start. These medicines manipulate the hormonal system that nature provided you with and there are side effects to using it no matter what.....its your body take care of it.

You told us that you have been on it since you were 22, but how long has it been? Since it has been for your entire adult life, please ask advice of your gynecologist. Knowing your full history, that doctor should be able to give you the healthiest answers for your body and your lifestyle.

WE here don't know if you are married or not or are thinking of still having kids in the future. For something this important to your life and health, ask your doctor.

I would imagine most would recommend stopping when you are no longer able to have children whether through one reason or another. Otherwise birth control of some sort is necessary to prevent unwanted pregnancies. I would imagine there are some long term effects, but I'm no expert.
