Teen Pregnancies

It looks like teen pregnancy is rising once again. I find this interesting because this rise might be tied to health programs that push abstinence instead of teaching birth control and safety measures.

What do you think? Should abstinence only programs be scrapped in favor of providing sound guidance in how to be a young adult?

What you think is driving this resurgence of teen pregnancies?

I do think that teens need to learn about abstinence as well as sex. The more they know, the better informed they are, which in turns means that better choices they make (or at least we hope they make).

Teen pregnancy is not something we seee much here in my part of the world. We do have a very good education policy here and I think it is very important to give our children the knowledge in order for them to make informed choices.

Where are they teaching abstinence? Every time I turn on the TV I hear about schools giving out birth control and doing pregnancy tests for the students. Or TV news shows showing how kids don't think oral sex is sex...and if everyone is having oral sex, regular sex isn't much worse.

Bad education and bad parenting.

Many teen girls get pregnant because they want to have a baby. They think that a baby will give them all the love that they will ever need. On one hand, the girls scream at their mothers about things and then tell them that they don't love their moms. But they don't seem to realize that when their child gets older that child will be doing the same things to them that they are doing to their moms.

Having a baby is hard but the teens think that kids are cute and sleep a lot. They don't know what it's like to hold a screaming baby with a loaded diaper.

seems so common now. That school has a dozen pregnant teenagers. It is just way too young to stop being a child and be responsible for another humane's life.

You know, there was a time when pregnancy between 16 and 19 wasn't thought unusual, and IS in keeping with nature's biological intent.

Sadly, in my state it is on the rise again. We just found out that my husband's 17 yr old brother is going to be a daddy! His girlfriend is only 14! I just don't know what to think because neither of these kids even have an inkling of a clue how to be parents.
