Size 16 Beauty Queen!
|
|
In Surrey England a 16 year old girl has made the finals of the Miss England contest. She is 5'10" and is a size 16! All the other girls are much smaller -- as usual.
In England there has been a lot of very nasty press calling her names and saying she has no right to be a beauty Queen. They say that she is setting a poor example as a role model for girls and that it's wrong that anyone who is larger should be a finalist in a beauty pageant.
That make me so angry.
Has anyone ever looked at an anorexic beauty queen contestant and said that she should be thrown out of the contest because she too thin and is a bad role model? Nope. Thin is pretty, even if the girl looks like a sickly thing that is too weak to stand up on her own power.
In fact I think Chloe Marshall is a great role model and the people who voted her in as a finalist are all great role models to all the real girls out here.
I understand that she isn't as healthy as she can be, but I also think that she is showing girls that they can have some pride in themselves -- no matter their size! She hasn't won the big prize, and with all the bad press I doubt she will, but she has won the idea that any girl can still be beautiful even if she isn't the perfect weight.
Look at that girl! She really is gorgeous. If she lost weight she would toe the "rules" that tells everyone that they have to be thin to be even considered pretty. But this way, with her looks, people can at least agree that she is gorgeous at any weight.
All that has been shown by Chloe Marshall getting to the finalists is that you don't have to be perfect to be thought of as good looking.
Good for her! -- Good for all of us!

I agree. These people are treating her like she is a walking heart attack, when she is just a little over-weight. This just goes to show that when you have a beautiful personality, it shows through. I don't understand how others can say she is a bad role model when 90% of the people in those type of competitions look paper thin....that’s not healthy either.

I think she looks perfectly fine, and there is no reason why she couldn't win. If being normal is a bad example in todays society, things are getting bad.

Perhaps these people are worried that "a little overweight" at 16 could turn into a LOT overweight at 20?
After all, a teenaged 16 year old girl should be full of health and vitality and I guess that's what people are expecting to see

I think she is the perfect beauty queen. I just left a message bashing those people that were against her. What right does anyone have to say she is fat, she has an avg. body and she is beautiful.

I hate this. Every model or beauty queen has to be a size 0 and a million feet tall. It's not very appealing when someones bones are sticking out of their back...

That girl is wonderful! She is atribute to real beauty that so many cultures hold dear.
I think wher we go wrong is our idea of beauty is plastic. Barbie doll plastic body and personality.
there was study done that 69 percent of teh world is size 14 and above.. I think she represents all of us....
NAAFA would back her in a minute!
Shes inspiration to us all!
