I have a mole on the right side of my face that I have had since I was a kid. My mom has told me many times that I need to have it checked and removed because it might me cancerous. It has not changed color or bigger, should I be worried.

There are certain patterns in moles which could lead you to suspect they are cancerous. If it is not symmetrical, has rings of color, or grows rapidly at any time it is likely cancerous. I had one removed as a kid that had a brown center with a white ring or regular skin and then more mole ring. it wasn't cancerous though.

You could have your doctor take a look just to make your mother feel better but it's unlikely to be anything to worry about. Since you have had it since you were a child and it hasn't had any changes, it's very doubtful that it is any kind of malignancy.

I think you should be worried. Not only does it look bad, but it can be unhealthy.
I heard you can burn a mole off with something like a brander. Have you tried that?

I wouldn't panic, but I would go get it looked at for piece of mind. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Honestly I wouldn't worry. I have several moles on my body, and my mother keeps an eye on them (I am 30 and have her check me over because they are places I can't see.....). If it starts to change I would be more worried but as it is right now-unchanging, I wouldn't worry at all.

Since you have had it since you were a kid and it hasn't changed shape or color and hasn't gotten bigger, then there's no reason to worry or rush to the doctor.
But if you do tend to have moles on your skin, you might think about going to a skin doctor to get a map made of all the growths you have all over your body. The one on your face won't be a bother, but you might have a new mole that you can't see somewhere and that would be a good reason to be checked out so that you can know what's going on as you get older.
Just because you have one safe mole it doesn't mean you can't grow something that might not be so safe. Better safe than sorry.

Dana that sounds right, my doctor suggested I do the same (with my partner, since the doctors can charge for this) and have it done yearly.

Yeah it never hurts to have it checked out but if it has not changed I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I am getting ready to take in my 12 year old daughter she has a mole that is a little to close to black for me to be comfortable.
