Mammogram or Ultrasound?

According to a recent study from the Breast Cancer Research, there seems to be a faster growth related to breast cancer among younger women.  The study also focused on detection of breast cancers with mammography.  I think that a conclusion was that a mammogram as well as an ultrasound are the best options. Anybody heard if this is true?

All I know for sure is that when you are too young, or lactating, that mammogram does not work. In those situations you have to have ultrasound instead, and honestly it's a rather more comfortable procedure than a mammogram.

yes. I've actually heard that MRI is the best for detection, but it's so costly insurance won't cover it. Mammography can actually be dangerous to use.

When I had breast cancer they found it on the ultrasound, NOT the mammogram. I had dense tissue, which is why I had the ultrasound. Frankly, I'd rather have the ultrasound, but both tools work better than just one.

I wish that we all had the opportunity to take the test that we all think is better for us. I wish that we all could be more in charge of our health, but the tests are so terribly expensive that it is impossible.

My sister had a PET scan last week and it cost $3000.00. If you have to pay 20% of the cost as a deductible then you can see how expensive being sick is.

All we all can do is try and eat a healthy diet and pray that the cancer cells in each of our bodies will be killed off by our white blood cells.

I pray that for all of us.
