Hot flashes when you are too young
|
|
What is the age to start hot flashes? I'm 35 and I swear I have been going through them for at least a year now.
I will wake up in the middle of the night soaked in sweat.
I have been told that I'm too young to have hot flashes.

Pre-menopause can actually start as early as your late 20's. Having actual hot flashes at 35 does seem a bit early. Have you checked out everything with your doctor? They can also be caused by various cancers, thyroid problems, stress and anxiety, etc.

It is said that Perimenopause Symptoms can start at 35. It can last just a few months or a few years. There is no way to tell in advance how long it will last OR how long it will take you to go through it. You really aren't too young to have hot flashes.
If you are at all worried about it, you can ask your doctor to take a test that will let you know if you are going through any part of menopause.

oh god i had thosewhen i was younger starting in my teens. It wasnt until after I had my daughter and went into
" menopause" that they stopped. My hormonal balance went backwards... it was strange ot be 18 and have one and now that I am 48 I have none!
i used to use baby powder-- alot...
kept a spritz bottle in the fridge so I could mist ice water with a few drops of my perfume in it when one came on. That seemed ot work well.
cool showers if i was able worked well.
beleieve it or not B vitamins helped immensely..

Thanks for all the tips- I have told my doctor about this- It is almost like they are in disbelief.
I carry deodorant in my purse and am always trying to find a fan for the cool air.

I am 48 and I have been going thru the stages of menopause. At 35 is really not too young it just is an early start which can happen according to what I have read. And it can take years to finally be done. I have the hot flashes but not the sweating. I also have the irritability. AAAHHH I hate it.My periods are screwy too. Every 24 days then it changes around to every 26 days. It last about 3 to 4 days then spots for 3 days. It drives me nuts.

I am 31, and I have been having premenstral hot flashes since before I was 16. The doctors wanted to do a hystereectomy on me when I turned 18 and could legally sign a waiver. I declined. I stay hot all the time. I lose sleep due to hot flashes I will wake up only after sleeping 30 mins to an hour and my bed will be literally soaked in sweat. YUCKY feeling!
