How does everyone feel about this process? I think it is great to give a couple a chance to be a family but it seems weird to not know if you have children out in the world. What do you think?
Medicine gone too far?

I think it's great if it is family or a close friend. If they are unable to produce their own eggs. Yes I think it might be odd to have children running around-- but then again you are giving them a chance they would not have had.
Technology is wonderful!

I guess it might be a good idea I'm just not sure about it.
You might have a kid wandering around who might knock on your door one day to find out about you. Not that this is so bad but imagine how that child would feel not knowing their own health background both physically and emotionally and trying to find two biological parents to help fill in the blanks.
Yes, technology is wonderful but just because we can do something doesn't mean we should.

I think it's a great idea, but one that needs careful consideration and lots of research prior to going ahead with it (both from the donor and the recipient).

I agree if it is a close acquaintance of sorts then I am perfectly ok with it and think it is a wonderful thing. The only thing I am bothered with is the fact that the big qualifying factor is that you have the money to pay for the procedure if that were not the case and there were some serious screenings then I would think even anonymous donation would be a beautiful thing.

I would think close freind or relitive would be worse. Then you would always know they are biologically yours. Wouldn't it be easier if you never met them or even knew if the pregnancy took.

The idea is a very good one, especially in helping childless couples but I just couldn't bear the thought of having some relationship with the babies born by strangers. How would you feel when one day you discovered that your girl's boyfriend has some linking to you?
