Birth Control Options

There are so many birth control options out there days they all say that they are good but how do you know which one is the right one. I've never had to use any birth control but my doctor recommends that I start using it.

I have only ever used condoms with spermicidal lubricant and abstinence. I can't remember to take the pill and by time I decided to try the patch it had been determined it could be very bad for you.

are you trying to avoid pregnancy only or pregnancy and STDs? My advice if both is to use condoms so long as you are not allergic. If just pregnancy, I am an advocate of non-hormonal birth control.

Different types of birth control work better for different people. If you absolutely do not want to get pregnant but can't remember a pill, there are other options such as IUDs. IUDs have a bad reputation from problems that happened twenty years ago but today's IUD doesn't have the issues that it used to due to redesigning. As someone stated above, to avoid STDs, you'll need to use a condom even if you are on other types of birth control.

I use birth control pills. At first it was very easy to remember because I just got it so it was easy to remember. I set an alarm on my phone for 5pm everyday.

As the days go on I sometimes am taking naps, in the shower, not around my phone, etc when the alarm goes off so I forget. I haven't been on birth control that long so the longest time I've forgotten to take it was probably about 2, maybe 3 hours.

I don't know if the pill is the best option because it does make me EXTREMELY moody, but I don't like the other options too much, I hate shots!

My better half is allergic to most all birth control pills. She has been on depo for the past 1 1/2 year, but because she recently lost her father (who had osteoporosis) they want her off the depo ASAP. We are going to see how Implantion works, its a chip that is inserted into the arm (hormonal yes) and last for three years.

To be as safe as can be, condoms keep you safe from more than just having an unwanted child. With all the social diseases that you can catch, some more dangerous than others, then it's worth the interruption to use them.

Better safe than sorry.
