Anti-Depressants and Nursing

My significant other is going through a hard time right now. She's also still nursing a little one, and so is avoiding anti depressants as she doesn't want to lose that relationship. Is there anything she could take and still be ok to nurse?

I would say check with the Dr to see if there are any that can help her without affecting the baby. It is a tough choice to make to get better yourself and stop breastfeeding or to continue to breastfeed and suffer through it. Remember that the babies can sense the emotions to a point as well.

I hope things work out for the best.

I would call the doctor, and see what they recommend. Thats a very tough choice.

Is it possible for you to help her without her taking pills. I remember I got a little depressed with brestfeeding because I was always tired and there was just so much to do, I had little help so I became overwhelmed.

The only way to find a feasible solution is to call her doctor, and discuss the problem at hand with them.

I wouldn't trust anyone else's advice but the doctor's on this one.
