Pizza

I normally ate frozen pizza for lunch- it was cheap and quick. I also love pizza.

I looked and it's NOT healthy- a lot of calories and fat.

I'm looking for ways to still eat pizza but for it to be healthy.

Any suggestions? Anyone try those lean quisine dishes? Any low fat pizza ideas?

The fat and calories in pizza comes mainly from the cheese and the flour in the base. You could try making your own with low fat cheeses and more vegetables for the topping.

I love pizza too but could not imagine that the low fat version would be as yummy!!

I make my own pizza that I've learned to adore. It doesn't have the fat or the oil in it and the crust isn't the real pizza crust, but then it doesn't have all that fat in it either.

Take a half bagel, the small ones and set it in the bottom of a small microwavable bowl. Add lots of pizza veggies, like green peppers, spinach and broccoli (my usual pizza toppings) I add low fat mozzarella and use pizza seasonings and pasta sauce on top. Heat it well and you have a great dish to eat.

I actually make a crustless pizza that is so good! I use those extra large pepperoni slices as my crust. I then use a low carb pizza sauce that I buy at Walmart and spread it on top of the pepperonis just like I would on a crust. Next I top it with all kinds of great toppings like sausage, mushrooms, banana peppers, and black olives. Finally I top it off with shredded mozzarella cheese, which you can eat quite a bit of on low carb diets. It really turns out scrumptious! The only real difference is that you always have to eat it with a fork.

THe pizza bagels sound so yum-- I never thought of this. I am going to try it.

I can make it right here at work. I have all the items at home.

I would think using pepperoni slices as crust would be more calories and fat than pizza crust?

I make pizzas using english muffins - just put some sauce, cheese and veggies on there, pop them in the toaster oven, and you are good to go:) Less calories than a bagel too!

Yummy english muffin pizza. And if you use the whole wheat muffins it`s even better.
