Making exercise a family activity
|
|
We're going to try this between now and fall to see if it helps us all to get more fit and lose weight. There are five of us in the house who could all stand to lose a few pounds and get in better shape. We just purchased pedometers for everyone and we're going to hold competitions with prizes for the most miles walked each week and month. We're hoping to walk as a family as well as separately or in smaller groups each day. After two weeks, we are going to see where we're at collectively and come up with a reasonable overall goal for miles as a family over the summer.

That sounds like a great idea. Making exercise fun is good, but involving the entire family is awesome. When you exercise in a group, it makes you work harder and also keeps you more accountable to keep up the routine. Great Idea!!

What a great idea. That will be just about the best thing your family can do to keep each member healthy.
It might also be a wonderful idea to plan some vacations on hiking. Take a look at The US National Parks website. Almost all the national parks have trails that are just wonderful places to walk and hike.

Some places are free and some just require a small fee. The views are magnificent and there's so much to learn in our national parks.

I love the idea. Some of the most fun that you can have on vacation is enjoying the outdoors. Whether its hiking through the mountains, or swimming at the beach or river, almost all outdoor activities benefit your health.

Good for you! Let us know how things turn out.
Now that the weather is warmer we have started taking a walk every night after dinner. It's good exercise and it gives us time to talk.

That sounds like absolute fun, and that also means that you don't have to cook two meals, you can just do one low carb meal, or whatever strategy you plan to take. All the best with that.

We are a walking family. It started when my hubby and I were young and had our first baby. I was at home, holding on to baby pounds, and he was a grad student and working full time. We made time to walk together. Now we do it all the time because we enjoy it.

We do this every spring/summer. We're sun people and when its nice out we all go play as a family (us and the dogs). Whether it be a nice walk, or a swim in the river or running in the fields near the house we get out at least every other day for a nice long jaunt. At least longer than the normal mile round trip to get the mail.

Ok so the winter we put some of it back on.
We also change our diet. mor eprotens and fibers than carbs but for carbs watermelon and grapes.... Yes workinga s a family does help for the weight to come off......
