Maintaining Weight Loss

When you've worked hard to lose weight, do you reach your goal weight and then stop the effort? Or do you keep it up?

I'm currently maintaining and have done for almost two months. Its not as hard as I thought it would be.

For me staying to a goal is the key. I have to watch what I do and keep my main goal in mind or I will backslide.

It is important that when you are losing weight that you are making changes that will carry through with you for life. If you go back to your old way of eating, you will gain.

Maintaining is a very important step to long term weight loss. It is also key to take on something that is easy for you to maintain.

As in other things in life, the starting part is the most difficult. After you get on with it and see the result, you will be able to maintain it for good.

I think maintaining the weight loss is the most difficult part, you then have to adjust your diet and increase your calorie intake enough to stop loosing weight, but not too much or risk gaining again.

My sister and I lost a LOT of weight about five years ago and maintaining the loss is very difficult.

At first it wasn't that hard to do. We both just kept on the diet and only added a few things so that we didn't continue to lose more weight. But as time passed and other things happened, keeping the weight off didn't remain a top priority in our lives. We both gains some weight back.

Try and remember that you should never let yourself gain back more than five pounds. If you do, go back on your diet and try and lose it again.

Maintaining the loss isn't going to be easy. Many people can't keep it off. Good luck!

Yes, maintaining the good weight you have achieved is not easy... During the diet, you stick to the discipline, but then when it's over there are temptations - eat this or that, exercise less, etc. I do my best to maintain a healthy lifestyle, exercise, and stick to rules like not eating late in the evening before going to bed. It takes self-discipline.
