Die as in Diet

I always remember that from Richard Simmons years and years ago, that he didn't like the word diet, and he pointed out that diet was die. Anywway, I agree with him on that one thing.

People invest millions for diet after diet. Some may work for a while, but then they put it back on. There are very few success stories that are done by a formal diet that are forever. Most successful weight loss situations are from when people turn their lives around and figure out why they are overeating in the first place.

I totally believe that. In the majority of cases, weight control is a person's emotional control. Whether it's self esteem or past experiences or insecurity or not wanting to stand out or whatever, it's usually an internal issue. A diet doesn't work because it's a bandaid. When the person figures out their issue and resolves it, that's when it works.

Please keep in mind the above is a generalization and simplifcation, but nothing about being overweight is simple or easy. It's a disease and one that requires help to overcome. Fad diets just are not the cure.

I completely agree. I think it is more about the state of mind too. I am a little overweight, but I can live with it. Fab diets are not good for long term weight loss and can be very very expensive and harmful to the body.

Fab diets in my mind are just a waste of time. if your happy with yourself than that should be all that really matters if you ask me.

I think diets are bad as well. I have seen people get heavy, then diet to lose the weight, then put it back on, then diet again. Over and over again - it's not healthy for your heart.

I say eat healthy and exercise, it has to be the best way to go.

Dieting really is bad for you, and the only way to actually lose weight and keep it off is to completely change the way you eat, and in effect, the way you think about food.
