Cereal Fat Content

I purchased a bunch of cereal this week, Special K (two types), Live Active (two types) and Fruit Loops. Reading the contents and nutritional information the Special K had 2 grams of fat, the Live Active had 1.5 grams, and the Fruit Loops had only 1 gram. You'd think the sugary kids cereal would be worse for you on fat.

Wow, I would have through that as well. I am sure, however, that it is still lacking a lot of nutrients than the other cereals. Plus, what is the serving sizes of each? Perhaps fruit loops is 1 cup while Special K is 1.5?

It makes you wonder, though, if it's GOOD fats in the healthier cereals than in the sugary, high-fructose corn syrup laden kids cereals.

It might have less fat, but the sugary cereals make up for it in the amount of carbs!

I agree with Patty. Is it good fats or bad ones? We do need the good fats.

Fruit Loops do not have HFCS. I already gave my mom the Special K, but I have the live active to compare. Fruit Loops has 1g total fat, .5 saturated, 0g trans. Live Active has 1.5g fat, .5g polyunsaturated, .5g mono unsaturated, 0g trans, 0g saturated. Fruit Loops have 25g carbs, less than 1g fiber, 12g sugars, 12g other carbs, Live Active has 44g carbs, 8g fiber, with 4g being soluble, 11g sugars, and 25 other carbs.
So I'm not sure thats going to corroborate your ideas either. Both are one cup servings. I wish I had some cheerios to compare but we finished those last week, lol.

Cereal don't have fat, get your facts straight people. Cereal contain sugar, but sugar doesn't equal fat.

Er yes, cereal contains fat. Go read the label of a few boxes on the shelf of a store and you might just know what you are talking about next time.
