A Day off is Not the End of a Diet
|
|
I try hard to remember this but sometimes I get down. There are times when it is hard to stick to the program because you are away from home for a meal, or out at a party. But that does not mean the end of the diet, nor does it mean that you have to starve yourself for the next few days to make up for it.
But still that one day off can really knock your confidence, so how do you convince yourself that a break from the diet is ok?

I try to look at the bigger picture - more like looking at the end. I also decided from day one that I wasn't going to be a slave to anything but that I was going to enjoy myself to the very end. I think that's what I need - some balance and much discipline.

Well one party or one day....or even a whole week where you slip up.....is nothing compared to the rest of your life. If you have a goal set that you want to reach, then keep trying for it. If you give up after a little slip or even a couple slips, you'll never get there, but if you keep trying over time, that goal will be yours. :)

I tell myself this is my cheat day for the week and that is fine. It's just too bad for me if I take my cheat day on Monday - it makes for a long week!

I try to just start afresh the next moment. If you go off for one meal or for a special occasion then you can chalk it up to human nature.
If you go off your diet many times or for days in a row, then you might need to look at the diet. You might be too bored to follow it any longer and you need a new program to follow.
It took me years to finally find a diet that really worked for me. If I hadn't decided that my old diet wasn't helping me, and gone off it, I wouldn't have found the one that did.

One day of slipping on a diet is not that bad. It is the days after you slip that matter. Whenever I mess up I often find myself in a different mindset the next day. I think, I already slipped yesterday, Ill just get back on my diet at the end of the week. That’s when things start to get bad. Also, you should allow yourself a little indulgence every once in a while as a reward.

One day of slipping up on your diet is not going to kill you. I give myself one day a week. It's usually when I go out with friends. I will slurge but I wont overeat.

If you constantly deprive yourself of the good stuff, then you are bound to slip. Dieting shouldn't be a difficult regimen, but yet something you can live with. It is ok to give yourself a treat from time to time, as long as you make up for it and don't treat yourself too much.

we have all done it. Fell off the diet cardboard box...
What we have decided to do though is balance out our day. So if we know theer is a party or we rae going to eat out because of the work we do or anything else, we dont bash ourselfves, we simply count what we ate to teh best ofour ability and go from there.
I gues beinga diabetic you get into teh swing of things that way because you have to.
Dont beat yourself up,, just count it and go on. Its liek this woman once write in,, one day all she wanted was a gigantic fudge brownie.. thats lla she wanted.
Soall day long that was all she ate, nothing else. She went o the meetinga nd teh doctor who was theer sa\id thats fine. As that was all you ate for the day. It was her only food source.
So he explained that sometimes we crave or need somehting that our diet is not giving us, and eating those htiongs that our bodies want is not a big deal. Just go from there logically.
