Subject: | ER or Urgent Care | |
If you have a minor emergency do you go to the ER and wait for possibly hours? Or do you prefer to go to a urgent care facility? (or as my husband calls them, a doc-in-a-box!) |

It really depends the issue. The last time I went to the ER I was charged about 400 dollars for what I knew was wrong, but they decided to test anyways. |

The hospitals in my area are about the closest place to Hell that can be found on Earth. Big City ERs are the worst! They are crowded, no one seems to care if you are ion pain and suffering, The nurses all are as scary as can be and will yell at you if you ask them anything. The first line from their lips is "You have to wait." No matter what is wrong with you. You can spend hours on a gurney and be certain that nobody remembers you are there. The nurses might be overworked, but their response is to be bullies and nasty as anything, Also you don't know who is next to you. I had a woman so filled with drugs that she was running around bouncing off the walls. I had to protect myself from that madwoman until security finally threw her out. I half expected her to come back and take revenge. If you know that your problem isn't going to kill you, I'd go anywhere other than an ER. |

No, definitely not. I don't have health insurance so unless it really was a horrible emergency, I'd avoid going in like the plague. I usually do what I can to take care of things on my own and if it's just not possible to fix it on my own, I schedule an appointment with my regular doctor. |

I prefer to go to urgent care if it's really minor. If not, I'd call an ambulance. Around here, if you go to the ER without an ambulance, you will wait for hours to be seen. If it's serious, we call an ambulance. |

If it's minor I try and take care of it myself otherwise I will go to the ER where my health insurance is at. |
