How many people are either taking pay cuts or have been laid off in all this mess? I am still seeing small companies sell quick when I think they could ride it out??

I've had my hours cut slightly but and am expecting heavier cuts within the month. What bugs me about it is that I don't think it is necessary. The sales numbers for my department for 2009 are running just a bit behind last year. Last year was by far their best year in a decade. Why do we have to cut?

I have no idea really. I know a local company that ended up losing money but they never caught it until after they laid off 12% of their reps. This is just getting crazier by the day.

I have been reading that some sales are up (including home sales in some places), does that mean we are recovering or are we still in a so so spot here in the US?
