ahhhh you youngus.. you ahve no idea.
I am 48 and I am looking foward to retirement.. sorta speak.
I am far from giving up workling.. jsut not running the roads. One thiongs we can do is not make older people feel useless or like second class citizens, which is what often happens. ok some should not drive. but civility will bring back a little pride in them.
Definately making them feel useful is big step in unburdening socioety. good medicale care for them and not warehousing for their ss checks.
if it werent for them, you have to remember you would not be here.....
theyahve so much to offer and many people just push them aside.
I for one will eb active until i die.. skin diving instructor, working at museums is a ownderful extension.. so for me its a working holiday to goof off and do as i please and make some money.
they should not be restricted on how much they can earn beyond their ss...
a cap of 500 a month is pittence... i fthey pay in as well as get out there is a rotation of money and pride.

No worries. Most baby boomers aren't going to be able to retire completely.
You question might need to change to," how will new college graduates figure out how to compete with private contractors and freelancers with years of experience?"

Retirement is a welcome reprieve - but only for those who are adequately prepared for it. I also agree that the marketplace will have a lot of very qualified consultants/contractors with whom the younger workforce will have to compete.

I imagine that companies might welcome the influx of retired contractors.
They can pay them more cash and still save money by not having to provide benefits, worker's com insurance, drug testing, and companies won't have to grapple with computing all of the withholding taxes they would for employees!
