Trying to get pregnant
|
|
We've been casually seeing if we could get pregnant (I went off birth control, etc), but now we're serious about actually conceiving. Are there certain things I need to be doing to make it happen? Have anyone used those ovulation testers to accurately predict when the best times to try are?

I've never used the ovulation test strips. I've had great luck with temp tracking and charting other symptoms (like cervical mucus). That, and when ttc, do the baby dance every other day.
Good luck! Is it your first?

My wife and I needed only to get friendly to get pregnant however we have several friends from the other end of the spectrum. One couple tried everything short of medical intervention and after seven or eight years decided it simply wasn't meant to be gave up and then they got pregnant. Temperature tracking and charting as far as I know works as well as the strips. I wouldn't start throwing a lot of money at the issue before consulting together as a couple with a physician. My sister-in-law spent a great deal of time money and effort finally got examined by a doctor and found out she is sterile. Not happy news but she wishes she'd gone to the doctor a whole lot earlier in the game. The younger you are the more likely the doctor can help.

If you have been casually trying for months already, and for enough months that any contraceptive pills you might have been taking has cleared out of your body, and you haven't gotten pregnant yet, it would be a good idea to get both of you checked.
For some reason woman always think that it's their fault right away and that they need to be more vigilant in their timing and what they eat, etc. If you go to your regular doctor to start and he checks both parents out, to make certain you are both in the best of health, then you are doing the best serious first step you can do.
That way you can also find out if you have any other problems that you might need to take care of before you push your body to carry and nurture a baby.
Good luck!

My hubby and I tried for 3 years to get pregnant. Nothing worked.
When I was trying to conceive, I learned that I had endometriosis - and this can cause infertility. It's often mis-diagnosed.
I went to day-surgery for a laparoscopy and 3 months later I was pregnant with my beautiful daughter.
