Taking Pregnancy Test
|
|
How long should I wait to take a pregnancy test? I don't really want to wait until a missed period because since I've stopped taking birth control, it's pretty irregular. Realistically, how long after unprotected sex should I consider taking one?

I think it's ten days. I've had correct results ten days after unprotected sex. I hope this helps!

There are some early tests, but I will say that neither of my kids showed up on even the most sensitive tests until after 15 days post ovulation (and I normally got my period at 13 days post ovulation). So it does depend on the person. Are you trying to conceive?

Check the label of each of the different tests. Some are really sensitive and can tell you well before a period is missed. It might be a good idea to use a few different tests to see the one you are comfortable with. This is an important question and you want to have a really reliable answer!
Good Luck!

Unless you want to pay $13-$15 for an early indicator test I would wait 12-14 days. Especially since you are not regular. FYI, you can get pregnancy tests at the Dollar Store that work just fine.

I would say wait until your missed period. I asked myself the same question not too long ago.
Sometimes you could take a pregnancy test the day before it's going to show up on a test. It could be different for anyone really. Also, tests aren't always 100% positive.
What I did was got a pregnancy test that had 2 in the box. I took one when I bought it, then I took the second one a few days later.
Maybe try that out?

The other thing of course is how do you feel? With my little one I knew five days post ovulation that I was pregnant because of the changes that I was starting to experience. If you are particularly in tune to your body then it might be fairly accurate.

The tests are 100% positive if they are positive. Any line, no matter how faint, is a positive if read within the time frame of the test. There is no such thing as a false-postive. There are false-negatives though.
I bought my tests from an online place, cheap-pregnancy-tests.com or something like that. A dollar a stick. Then I didn't feel bad neurotically peeing on them! They are the kind used in doctor's offices and very sensitive.

I took a test on the day of my missed period and it came out negative, but I WAS pregnant. (Found out a week later when I took a second one.) I say because of the cost of the test and the possible disappointment of it being so early, wait at least 15 days.
