Baby Aspirin to Help Prevent Miscarriage

In the last several months I've been reading about how a baby aspirin a day can help prevent miscarriage. I haven't read a whole lot about it so I'm a little unsure of how it works.
My own OB has suggested that when I get pregnant I immediately start this aspirin regimen. Anyone else tried this?

No, I've never seen anything on it. How does it work?

Most miscarriages are because something is going wrong with the developing embryo, unless there is a problem that YOUR body has carrying a child, I wouldn't do it.

Are there actually studies done that prove baby aspirin does prevent miscarriages? or this a relatively new idea?
I would be leary of anything that is not proven in the medical community.
Although, if you're OB is recommending it there must be something good in taking one a day.

Baby aspirin helps with the blood flow to the reproductive organs. It helps to build the uterine lining. This can possibly help to reduce the chances of miscarriage.

Aspirin is also a blood thinner, though. Taking aspirin throughout a pregnancy would increase your chances of excessive bleeding issues during delivery. This seems more risky to me.

I have never heard of that before, but I am curious to have more information on it. I have a few friends who have had multiple miscarriages.

I am interested. I have a friend who has tried many things and has had three miscarriages. The Dr. said she is perfectly healthy to carry a baby, and that it just wasn't meant to be.

I read that the baby aspirin is supposed to help stop the blood from clotting, so if you have had that problem before it might prevent it happening again.

If the miscarriage has to do with a problem with the fetus, the aspirin won't help, but in as much as doctors and fertility clinics recommend it, it would be a great thing to try and give the baby as much of a chance as it can have to be healthy. Good Luck!
