I am just curious as to who here may believe in the power of prayer when it comes to healing. I used to belong to a very fundamentalist church where it was common practice to pray for ill members of the congregation and for each other directly. I no longer go to the church but I still wonder about the power of prayer.

Yes, I believe in the power of prayer. I believe that God still heals instantly today. I also believe that he heals over time, sometimes with the aid of doctors and medicine and sometimes through extended faith and prayer.

I believe in prayer, I believe that there is a higher being somewhere out there that kind of keep things into perspective even though so many things are going bananas.

I'm not sure where I stand on the issue if I am honest. I pray on a regular basis, and yet I'm not sure if I think it works. I continue it, just because it was drilled into me over a period of time.

2Ronnies, I am about the same as you. As a child I often wondered if my prayers were answered as sometimes it seemed never a chance would they be. As an adult, I still have no clue about it all.

I read an article several years ago about some big meditation/prayer meeting in Washington D.C. It lasted a few to several days and there hundreds, maybe thousands, of people doing it. Coincidentally, the crime rate dropped and all sorts of other bad type things lessened. Pretty interesting.
