Sitting

Many of us work in jobs where we are required to sit most of the time we are on the job. I know it is important to get up and move around whenever you can. My question is this: What type of chair is best for minimizing the potential problems this causes for a lot of our backs?

An orthopedic chair should do the trick.

Most office chairs these days are made more ergonomically than in the past so they are shaped for supporting the back and body naturally. I don't think any chair would be good to sit in for long periods, even ergonomic or orthopedic, as our bodies need to move in order for the muscles to remain healthy.

If you don't have a good chair, you can also get back supports that strap onto the chair to help with posture and minimizes back pain.

I have one of those back support things but I guess I didn't get the kind that works best for me since it doesn't feel right when I use it. I am looking for a new chair for the home office and some of the prices are insane.

Even the best chairs require us to get up and move around throughout the day.

I think you are right. No chair can offer the total support that you will need all day. You still need to get up and move around to get the blood circulating.

When I am on the computer I use a lumbar pillow and I sit on a pillow. But I still have to get up and move around because I had L5S1 fusion surgery done and I am still having problems.
