Link between smog and premature death

A recent study was done which showed that exposure to second hand smoke and smog could lead to premature death. Of course this is just more knowledge, it may not necessarily be the fact.

This does make sense if you think about it. Pollution in the air, or smog, gets in your lungs and causes damage. Studies have shown the adverse affects of secondhand smoke for years.

Good point, Kathy. It just seems to me like breathing in smog wouldn't be as dangerous/unhealthy as breathing in secondhand smoke. It would be interesting to see which is worse.

So there's a controversy amongst politicians and researchers about how bad breathing polluted air is for people with bad lungs?

One side says that people with diseased lungs can die from breathing bad air and the politicians say that polluted air isn't that bad?

I bet if the politicians didn't have health coverage, for life, then they might be a little worried about the effect that polluted air might have on them. People with bad lungs already know that they have to worry that the filth in THE AIR could kill them.

How can anyone say that the pollution we have isn't that bad? How bad do they want it to be? It's all very sad.
