Flouride in water?

Our area has recently started adding flouride to the drinking water and it has created quite a stir of controversy about its safety. Do you have flouridated water and if so do you have any concerns about its safety?

It's actually spelled "fluoride". ;) We are on a well here, so we don't have fluoride added, but when we lived in Florida we did and I had water delivered that was not fluoridated. I didn't want that stuff in my or my children's bodies. Topical application to the teeth makes sense, systemic does not.

Our water does not have fluoride added and I don't think it's a good idea. Although I understand that fluoride is beneficial to good dental health, it is already sufficiently available in toothpastes and mouth washes.

I don't really like it in my water either as too much fluoride can make your teeth looking dingy. I get plenty in my toothpaste and don't need a local government telling me I need it. Decisions like this are exactly why I vote because I would send letters out to the local government letting them know my displeasure and that I will be make sure it is known in my vote this November.

We drink bottled water here and only cook with tap water so I wouldnt know what flouride can do to you.

The dentists in our area though swear that having fluoride in the water reduces the number of children with cavities. This is the primary reason it was done. It was voted on and narrowly passed. Thanks for the spell check Patty...thats what happens when I use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox which lets me know when I have misspelled!

We only drink bottled water because our tap water is just plain awful. I dont think I would like the governmet taking matters into their own hands though and adding stuff to the tap water.

Our tap water is awful and it does have fluroide in it. We drink more bottled water anyway.
