What is the best way to dispose of medication such as pain pills and sleeping pills etc?
I do not want to flush them as I worry about them being put into out water system.

One way is to buy some litterbox filler for a catbox and mix the old or unwanted medication in with some, and then seal it really well in a small box and throw it in the trash. It won't get loose, won't get into the water system and no one will know to steal the pills if it's mixed with kittylitter.

I've always flushed them and really don't worry about them getting into the water system as all the sewage is treated and I would think that treatment process would take care of that.

I haven't really thought about it and I have just put whatever I have not taken in the waste basket and throw it out with the regular rubbish.

Now you got me thinking. I have always just thrown them away. In most cases I have taken them all as instructed but ocassionally just popped them in the trash can. Is this wrong?
