Subject: | No Shampoo? | |
Have you all heard of the no shampoo movement? There evidently is a movement afoot that teaches that using shampoo is detrimental to hair. Read this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30337386/ I don't know if I could do this or not. If I had about a month to stay holed up in my house I might try it but I go out every day so I don't know. I may try it on a weekend as an experiment. |

Ewww! I don't think I could do it. My head would itch so bad I'd have furrows from where I scratched. I may be addicted to shampoo-LOL! |

I don't think I could do this. I have grown accustomed to my shampooing and conditioning routine and am pretty sure I'd have to give up showering all together to give up shampoo. I am sure I don't have to explain why that would be bad but I am sure I'd lose my job over a move like that! :) |

I know a guy that has done this for years now and its not as bad as one would think. Myself I have naturally over oil head, I say head as its not just my face but my hair too. I can go 2-3 days without it, but proper rinsing(still using water, duh) does work. Try it. |

I think a long time ago a hair stylist said the best way for ladies to get tight heavy curls is to have some extra oil in their hair at the time. Makes you wonder doesn't it? |

It depends on your hair type? If you have dry, brittle hair then you use different chemicals than those of use with fragile oily hair. Health wise, I will continue to use shampoo on a regular basis. I do though, use an organic shampoo. |

I only wash my hair every 3-5 days, but I started that because I have curly hair. At first, it was pretty weird, but now if I wash more often, my scalp feels dried out and kind of raw. Sometimes I'll rinse on non-shampoo days. I also use only shampoo that has no sulfates as those were really drying out my hair and making it frizzy. |

Sometimes I wonder if we aren't washing ourselves to death. I know my wife used to wash her face three times a day with soap and had extremely oily skin. Now that she is post menopausal, he skin became super dry. She rinses her face with warm water and no soap every other day. Every other day she washes her face with a very, very mild soap. It has kept her once dry skin very nice and not dry or oily. She has also stopped using skin toner because that was drying her out too. |
