Subject: Health Reports On TV

Every time I hear a news story about a person who is in my age range getting a terrible disease, I am certain I am getting it too. Mainly because of the way the news talks about it.

I try not to listen to all the health reports on the news but they always have at least one story about health and it's usually a bad news bite, like "Breathintg Air Will Kill You! Story at 11."

Most state that every disease out there, no matter how small, is raring to get at you. And all the news reports always talk about the worst examples.

After hearing those, I have trouble not worrying when I get any little pain and ache. I'm just sure it's the end. I do calm down after a while, but then another report comes out and I am obsessing again. Does the news have to talk about only the worst examples of health risks and make it so terrible?

Does anyone else feel that way?

Many of the health reports on television are sensationalized. This is what attracts the viewers, I guess, but unfortunately it also stresses them out. You might want to take a step back and figure out why these reports get you so upset. If you worry about each and every report, the stress is what will make you ill.

Don't worry about it. Television stations run stories like the one you are talking about simply to get people's attention and keep them in front of the TV, so they can make money. Take everything on TV with a grain of salt.

Your posts had me laughing.  I liked the "Breathing Air will Kill you".  I sometimes feel the same way, its just like reading about a health report or hearing about something that causes itching then I find myself starting to scratch just a little bit.

I would try not to worry about everything you hear on the television, they are generally over worked to make you sit up and take notice, also many of the diseases talked about are quite rare and that is why they make the news.

What do you think?
