Subject: | Cigarette Companies Adding Menthol To Get African Americans Teens Hooked On Smoking! | |
I read this on HealthDay News today. It seems that cigarette manufacturers have found that adding even more of a menthol taste to their tobacco makes that first cigarette more tasty to new smokers. What is worse, they found that African-American teens really like the menthol taste because over 70 percent of those who smoke use menthol tobacco. Cigarette manufacture are now adding more menthol to their product to get even more African Americans hooked on smoking. I don't understand how the cigarette manufacturers can get away with targeting teens to get them to smoke. Don't they have any conscience? |

While I am not normally a fan of stereotypes I have to say my Caucasian friend who smoked always smoked lites, regular and the one african american I know who smoked was a mentol Marlboro man. When my best friend in college used to run out she'd ask me to bum a cig from someone and I always hit him up for one. She'd get two drags in before it hit her and she'd be sorry. |

Well, every product being sold in this country does something to make it more attractive. |

This is a shame. But, no matter how much we may not like it, companies will continue to enhance their products to get people to buy. It's just awful that they are allowed to do this with products that are so obviously a health risk. |
