He still has beer once in awhile but no booze. The doc put him on high blood pressure meds . cholesterol meds, pain meds for his neck and back and an anti depressant. He says he feels so much better and doesn1t even have the urge to drink.

That is great to hear. I did not even know that they had meds for that. It is great to hear.

This just shows how important treating pain truly is.

It also shows how some medications are truly beneficial, as opposed to trying to use will power and 12 step programs, for many people

While its not good he is on the meds, its good that this change has caused him to stop drinking! Maybe if he continues to make life changes like this he will not even have to take all of the meds!

Thats great to hear, but it is unfortunate that he has found his motivation because of his ill health now.

That is wonderful that he has stopped drinking. Hopefully, the meds will control his pain and make him keep feeling like he doesn't need to drink anymore. Good Luck to you both!

pain and depression go hand in hand. My hubby was and is slowly going back that way.

Once he gets his pain under control everything will get much better!

has he taken up a hobby yet?????

That is so wonderful to hear! Too many times people are driven to drink because their medication just doesn't take their pain away. That brings all sorts of problems.

But I am so glad to hear that your husband is doing well now! Congratulate him for me!

Thanks everyone. Im` so happy for him too. He even acts much calmer. He wasn`t that bad anyway, but you can tell hes different.
