I think I may have a hernia in my groin area. I haven't seen my doctor about it yet, but I plan to make an appointment this week. Is there anything I can do for it in the mean time? It's not painful or annoying, I just noticed it while bathing a couple days ago.

It might be worthwhile for you to do a good Internet search on hernias. Since you haven't mentioned where it is by the groin, or what it looks like that you think you might have one, as long as it doesn't hurt, I guess you can take a little time before getting to the doctor.

In the meantime, follow a medical site's recommendations on how to treat it.

there are a couple of ways to tell if you have a hernia

one i sthere a small buldging on either side of the scrotum? is theer a a buldging above in the pubic area or lower intestinal area?

do you get relief when you press on the area that hurts?

if it does then you have a hernia.

in any case a small trip to a local clinic or even an ER would alleviate any doubt.

Ouch! Until you go to the doctor- I would limit all lifting- this way you won't make it worse.

Also get to the doctor if you think this is what it is. They will be able to tell you and then decide what to do from there on.
