Paxil and Personality Changes

A family member has been been on Paxil for some time now. Something I've noticed is an increase in erratic behavior and uncharacteristic aggression.
Have you or anyone you've known experienced this type of behavior while on this medication?

I was on Paxil for a few months a couple of years ago after my parents passed away. I didn't think it did much for me but my sister told me that she thought I was calmer and in a better mood -- a much better mood.
If your relative is acting strangely, then maybe the Paxil isn't the right drug or it isn't at the right dosage. Maybe suggest that they go to the doctor to talk about the drug. There are usually a couple of months of hit and miss as you look for the right drug and dose for each person.

I haven't seen this particular side effect (except when someone 'stopped' taking it and was going through withdrawals), but it doesn't surprise me any. I read a study a while back that said almost 20% of the people in their trial had to stop taking it because the side effects were too severe. It's possible that your family member should consider changing to something else.

second its a dangerous side effect. It seems the drug accululate sin brain tissue and fat layers of the body. so an eventual overdose is possible. Another side effect is liver damage. so she needs to get a liver enzyme test done.

I used to take Paxil and I gained a lot of weight. I switched to Zolft. I never had any other bad side affects from paxil. I agree with everyone else you need your family member checked out by the doctor. It may be they need a different kind of med.
