glucophage warning

I was prescribed glucophagfe for my diabetes, before they figured out I was really type 1 not type 2. Anyway I had some pretty severe reactions, including a mini stroke and mild heart attack.
Withg so many poeple being prescribed it for othinsg other than glycogen release, i am concerned that these peopel might experience side effects because they are being given a drug that not for what ails them.

Unfortunately this kind of thing happens all the time. My sister as a young child was prescribed an asthma medicine, diagnosed with asthma on the basis that I have it. She really doesn't, and instead had a cold.
The resulting side effects knocked her down so badly she ended up in hospital. Horrible experience.

I am glad you found out early enough. Sometimes a second opinion works out to be good. These medical professionals need to be more careful because a life cannot be replaced.

I wish things worked a little more logically in the medical world. Logic tells me that when someone is being prescribed a new medication, regardless of history, should be tested to make sure there is not an undiagnosed preexisting condition. This preventative testing would save a lot of lives I imagine.

I guess this is why they call it "practicing" medicine. With all of the diseases out there I'm surprised most even come close half of the time. I have a great Dr and she will take her time to diagnose things and is very thorough. She just doesn't jump on the "disease of the week" bandwagon.
