Subject: Best Way To Ensure Health

I know we all know pretty much how to physically take care of ourselves to ensure a healthy life. Right diet, right weight, right cholesterol level, right blood pressure measurement, right blood sugar, etc. But what do you think is the best way to ensure our mental health? I think that mental hygiene is the most important thing that we can do to ensure that everything works right. Attitude, relaxation, positive thoughts and belief in a higher power are all parts of being mentally healthy and to live a long and stress free life. Do you have any special way that you use to achieve these things. I do some meditation and listen to some stress relieving for myself. What do you do?

I couldn't agree with you more.

Stress is associated with so many major diseases and conditions and I know personally when life is really stressed I tend to notice I get sick more often and just generally don't feel well. Then when things are good they feel good.

I've considered taking up something like meditation but haven't tried it yet. I did use to do yoga which I found relaxing and believe that was helpful.

The best way I have of controlling stress is to regulate my thoughts. Dwelling on bad things magnifies them in our minds to the point that even little things can look insurmountable. Worry is a passive emotion - it can't change anything so why waste time and energy on it? The best way to cure it is to take some sort of action to prevent or mitigate the circumstances that you are worrying about. Most people's stress levels come more from worrying about what might happen than from day to day events.

I agree totally. The belief in a higher power has been shown to help you live a longer, healthier life. I think that says something to us all about faith and believing.

I think a good way is to keep an eye out for stress triggers and take care of ways to avoid the stress, if unable then to destress. It seems many people forget how to do this and I hear people complain about it the most.
