Subject: Natural vs ?

I believe in taking care of myself and choosing natural and organic whenever possible but I have a friend who is completely obsessed. When ever she is offered anything to eat anywhere or if someone suggests a remedy for something she will immediately ask, "Is it natural?" We were out with the girls once and she was starting to drive us all around the bend. One of my other friends had enough and glared at her saying, "No it's supernatural." I laughed my head off.

There is a limit unfortunately. Some people take things to the extreme but in those case they cannot expect to still interact with this world and stay sane. Or stay alive when their friends have had enough.....

My mother in law used to drastically reduce sugar and fat in recipes for cookies and cakes. I tasted the results. Kind of saw dusty. Because she could not make a decent cookie or cake that way she gave up and just bought the stuff in the store. My question is this: As far as reducing sugar and fat, what did she accomplish?

Nothing if she then went on to buy store bought ones that were filled with preservatives and other problems!

There are ways to reduce fat and sugar, but the moisture and sweetness needs somehow to be maintained. Artificial sweeteners, and using things like apple sauce in place of fat can help for cakes, but you cannot omit it completely.

I think if you are going to both cooking cookies and cakes they might as well taste good or why bother? I cut down on the fat and sugar by cutting back a bit each time until I reach a balance where it still tastes good but I've reduced the calories.

My best friends sister is like that and its never meant in a bad way but she is still new to town and does not know all the places that serve what. I would take it in stride if possible.

I can understand what people are willing to do to become a tad more healthy but when you need a sign instead of asking the same question over and over again it might be too much.
