Would you change a Dr just because they are always late?
|
|
I used to see a Dr that I ALWAYS had to wait on. Everytime I checked in he was "a little behind" and I would have to wait for an hour just to see him. I finally got fed up and changed my Dr. It was the best thing I could have done. I rarely wait more than 5 minutes now because this Dr doesn't try to cram so many people into each hour.
Would you or have you done the same?

That might depend on how late and for what reasons. I think an hour when the place is not slammed is not very keen on treating your patients proper, I would have swapped doc's too.

I would have changed too. There is nothing worse than hanging around a stuffy waiting room if you are feeling unwell. I dont think Drs give enough time to their patients anyway, My doctor works in five minute slots, which is just not enought time for some people.

Up here waiting for your doctor is almost considered normal. In some areas it is difficult to find another family doctor. I would have been annoyed but also probably put up with it.

If I was happy with my doctor I wouldn't change. Maybe he's late because he's at another office spending time with his patients. Also, if he spent time with me and answered my questions and made me feel comfortable, and if he's a good doctor I wouldn't change. My health is important enough to me to spend some time at his office waiting for him.

I think it would depend on the reason as well. If the doctor is a general doctor and is always late, that is rather inexcusable and they are probably over scheduling. But if he or she is a surgeon or an OB/GYN, then those are valid reasons. Surgical emergencies and babies don't always stick to the "schedule."

I would probably changed if he was always late and really had no good reason why he was.

If he is always late, that is a good indication. It is because he is so good at his job that many people are seeking his service. If I were you, I won't change another doctor. Not all doctors are the same; and in something that are as important as our health, I will have time to wait for him.
