When was the last time....

When did you last challenge your doctor over a treatment or prescription?
I had to tell a doctor that one of my medications did, in fact, come in an injectable/IV version when I wanted it in my IV instead of having to swallow the pill. He and the nurse swore there was no such thing. I said "check with the pharmacy".
Five minutes later they returned with the IV set up and the medication, in liquid form.
When did you last find yourself having really push for what you needed?

I think i have been very fortunate with doctors. i have never felt the need to challenge opinions, and have always found them easy to talk to and question.

when i wanted Insulin.
They wanted to keep me on oral medication, doubleing athen tripling the dose and i still wasnt under 200 with that. So I was reading magazines and pushed for R, then N, then lantus,w hich didnt work any better than N or 70/30.
Once he put me on it, it was fantastic! I have been in freedom ever since!

I've always been pushy if I felt I needed a different answer. Unfortunately it normally only gets me on another trip to the alternative doctor. I hate ani-biotics and they always hand them out like candy.

I won't say that I challenge my doctors but I do ask lots of questions and always ask for alternative methods for medications.
I've had no problems with my doctors and if anything, they respect me more for researching everything that I have to take and the conditions I have. They like the fact that I understand what is happening and don't mind my questions at all.

The only thing I can think of when I had to request something that was not "normal procedure" was when I had an IV done and requested they numb the area first (I am such a baby when it comes to IVs).
