Is Blogging Good For Your Health?
|
|
According to ABC Science Online, "Blogging can help you feel less isolated, more connected to a community and more satisfied with your friendships, both online and face-to-face, new research has found."
Recent research from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, indicateds that after two months of regular blogging people began to feel they had more friendship networks than those who didn't blog and a better social support.
I think this would be great for patients that feel isolated by their disease or condition.
If anyone needs help with starting a blog just send me a message and I will do my best to help you :)

I agree. Research in the past says that keeping your mind sharp and continuously working helps you stay healthy and sharp. When I blog, I am critically thinking and sometimes researching.

If blogging was bad for our health then I hope we are not doing it. I agree with Relaxin that keeping your mind working will improve the longevity, usage of your brain.

By all means, do what you can to keep your mind quick and working. But I am not so sure about blogging. I personally can't see how writing about your experiences with your disease helps you. I can see how joining a community with the same illness would help. It's good to share information about illnesses and tips on self help like on this forum. We are all here to help each other and to learn things. That's great.
What I can't understand is how writing about your private pains and fears can help anyone. I personally don't like to hear people always talking about themselves, thinking that their story is terribly interesting to the world and asking for people to applaud them for sharing their littlest thoughts and angst. It's too much like hogging the conversation all the time.
This forum is an example of a great site. You can share a bit about your life, but we all really are here to share with each other and help if we can, and learn too.
Maybe I'm just not a Blog person. I'd rather have a discussion than talk about myself.
