Finding Decent Insurance
|
|
I grew up in a family that didn't have insurance. My mom was a stay-at-home that did work for cash on the side, and my dad was a contractor, so neither got insurance through their workplaces. As I got older, it was something I looked for in job benefits and I'm good to go now.
I have a friend who doesn't have insurance, though, and with a little one on the way, she's hoping to get insurance somehow. The closest she's found has been really high priced through a third party company, so what can I do to help her? Are there decent insurance companies outside of those offered through workforce programs?

My family is the same way. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield which is pretty comprehensive coverage and fairly reasonable. You may want to recommend she take a look at https://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ehi/Alliance?allid=Goo18811 . This site allows you to get several quotes from different companies and compare them online.

I need health insurance as well. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good/affordable health insurance provider?

Your best bet might be to contact your state and ask about something called a health insurance risk sharing plan. You might have to meet certain qualificatios but it's generally for folks who can't get coverage elsewhere for any particular reason.
