Did anyone ever have a toddler dropped by the insurance provider?

Long story short I'm looking for some advice. My 15 1/2 month old was dropped by the insurance provider. My husband's current job doesn't offer insurance. Both my husband and I have no coverage but our daughter was covered by Gateway *A state issued health insurance* We were told at 12 months old the insurance would automatically be switched over to CHIP.Well, we went to her 15 month doctor's visit and that morning we were told she has no coverage. We ended up having to pay out of pocket and then pay an additional amount for her ear infection meds. We are getting the run around from the company and are now being told we waited to long.We had no notification or an indication there was an issue intil we got to the Doctor's office. We followed up as soon as we could the following week.Has anyone ever had this happen? We are now being told it may take 2 months for her to even try to get coverage again. Does anyone have suggestions of what we can do?

I have not heard of anything like this no. Is this a work based insurance for you? If you are forced to switch companies because your job is changing then the new company by law must take her as I understand it.

I have not heard of this before either. Did the company state the reason for dropping her? I would start by finding a new insurance provider that is within your budget. Here is a tool I found useful to help compare plans and rates of different health insurance companies. You might want to give it a look.

Insurance providers can at times be very difficult you might have to bide your time to be the squeaky wheel but make sure you express yourself. I got a golden opportunity to belly ache publicly and managed to convince one of the largest group insurance companies to rethink a stupid policy. Their policy was that two members of the same family could not have the same birthdate. I have a set of twins and one of the twins had to have an artificial birthdate to satisfy their computer program. Do you have any idea what a pain in the posterior that is when getting prescriptions for one or both of themd? Which one has the switched birth info? I started working with a brand new company and this insurance company came to give info sessions and then become our provider. Their misfortune was that I was in the first group of 25 they met with and had the further misfortune of having another new parent of twins in the same group. I asked about the issue in detail and he gave their bs answer and our new mother freaked right out over it. This spread through the grapevine like wildfire and every group he spoke with grilled him on that issue. 500 employees. They changed the policy within I think six months. I was real proud of that.

That is a crazy policy to start off with and makes you wonder who makes these rules up? Insurance companies are a pain many times over. I had my son dropped when he was 3 months for some reason they refused to believe that his SSN was his SSN and since they had no copy of it (it took longer than the 6-8wks to be made and sent to me) they dropped him. I found out at a drs appt. too.

We weren't forced to switch companies, at least not by choice.I'll be glad when my husband's job offers insurance for all of us since we wont have this problem. They said at 12 months old it automatically switches.Well, the dumb woman never took care of it apparently. We had to contact 4 different companies they use and none had our info. They refused to help us.They said we waited to long.We called in Monday or Tuesday the week we found out.Since we found out on a thursday and Friday we couldn't get through to anyone.I still can't believe they said we waited to long when we didn't have knowledge of it till then.We were told they closed our case and there was nothing they could do. The woman we work with I can't stand. She never contacts us and we thought everything was fine. This is the same provider I had to have while I was pregnant. They dropped me pretty much right after having my daughter. Before that we had a miscarriage and they didn't want to believe me that I had a miscarriage. Then it took over a year to have them clear the issue and get it worked out.It was a mess. They even threatened to turn me into collections because we told them we had a miscarriage and since there was no birth record they didn't want to pay the pregnancy thus far.

Then with my daughter her SS didn't show up when it was suppose too.The hospital screwed that up and we had to track that down but with the new laws you can't do anything over the phone and need to go in person to the office.Needless to say they didn't help us at all.I'm still ticked because at the moment we are paying everything out of pocket. We had to fill out a new application and we were told it could take 2 plus months to have insurance kick in. So, in the meantime my active toddler hopefully wont hurt herself in the meantime or get sick.Any parent knows how important it is for kids to have insurance. But, if these companies wont help and refuse to help people what do you do.Espeically when people are willing and do want to pay but can't.
