Sun Care

There are a lot concerns lately with the chemicals that are in sun protection lotions. Are there safer ones?

There are sun screens that are physical rather than chemical. I believe that they contain titanium dioxide to block the sunlight, rather than the usual things, and block all types of rays.

You might look for something like that.

I was just watching a 20/0 report about this on their summer myths show. They listed using titanium dioxide as one of the better ones as well as a couple that work less well. Reapplying sunscreen and not using a sunscreen/bug spray combo are the two best probably for making sunscreen work better.

I haven't heard anything about unsafe sunscreens. I will have to look into that further. This is an interesting topic and I will look forward to hearing what others have to say.

I don't know how much validity it has, but I have seen a new study on several newscasts that has stated that 4 out of 5 sunscreens are harmful.

According to some, the most risky suncreans are those with a SPF rating of 15 or higher. Almost 85 percent of them contain ingredients which are not subjected to a test for safety or merely do not appropriately protect the consumer from UV rays.

I had never actually thought about what chemicals were put into sun creams. My main concern has alwys been protecting myself from the sun. This is a subject I will look into more.
