Rainbow diet

I've been thinking of starting the Rainbow diet with my family to increase our naturally occuring vitamins and minerals. Does anyone follow this diet?

For those unfamiliar with it, it's essentially eating foods of varying colors to increase nutrition.

Right, trying to eat a natural food that covers each of the rainbow colours, each day (as opposed to dyes!).

I tried to follow this for a while and found that (in my area) blue was terribly hard to cover. I ate blueberry yoghurt every day and got sick of it!

This is the first I have heard of this diet. I would probably have trouble filling some of the slots with natural food, expecially green as I am not a vegetable fan.

You don't have to eat the rainbow every day (thats what Skittles are for, lol). I've always tried to have a mix of colors, but mostly for the visual combination. Blue/purple actually are combined in most of the ones I see, so most berries and dark grapes work well, as does eggplant.

We try to have a colorful diet of fruits and veggie in our home, as well, though I am sure we don't get all the colors in daily. I sometimes have troubles enough managing what we are currently doing!

Blue/purple can also be had in purple cabbage, as well as blue berries, black berries, eggplant (the one veggie I will not eat, texture).

I'm thinking now it won't be so hard, but I wonder how plausible it is in the dead of winter?

So its basically a diet that promotes eating different foods - sounds great! This is what we all should be doing anyway, moderation is the key to healthy eating.

I love the skittles comment. I have never heard of this rainbow diet before. It makes sense though- Eating food that is natural and has nutritions makes sense.

I'm not sure I could do it though- I love green salads and veggies.
