Pain Management

What is your preferred method of pain relief, and is it something that is easy on the body? Too many, ibuprofen, aspirin, even tylennol in large enough amounts can cause bleeding problems, and that isn't good...

Depends on what the pain is coming from. I have back pain that I have to manage. Usually there is nothing but I have to be very aware of how I move and especially what and how I lift. I use ice packs, I try to keep limber and I exercise regularly. Walking is ok but the most effective has been cycling. Doctor recommended ibuprofen but I don't know why but it does absolutely nothing for me. There are suppositories which are effective but I'm not terribly fond of them. For severe pain I've been given demerol but that is just as likely to make me puke. When I have to have something just to keep my going I take tylenol but I try to keep that to an absolute minimum.

I try as far as possible to just grin and bear it. If it is prolonged, I use ibuprofen but as I am very afraidn of its effects, it's pretty much a last resort.

If it's a muscle pain, I apply heat to the area and that usually helps. I am an avid pill-popper though (no, I'm not an addict) so I usually head for the iboprofin when I need it.

I usually just grin it bear it as well. I will stretch the offending pain location, and that helps, and if possible I will stop whatever it is that is causing the pain. If it really becomes a problem I will take 2 Tylenol. When it is mentstraul pain, I usually take Ibuprophen becuase for me it works for that better.
