Green Tea and Cancer
|
|
I have heard a lot about green tea lately. Because my sister has cancer I've been researching it and there are news articles out there that say that all tea, but green especially, has phytochemicals in it that helps shut down glycolosis (cancer cell's main supplier of energy) and thereby help to starve cancer cells to death.
I know that this might be just a grabbing headline, but if anyone has cancer it might be worth the effort to start drinking green tea.
Like the old joke goes -- It couldn't hurt!

Wow, I'm never going to get cancer with the amount of tea I suck down, if that is true! :)
I've also heard that drinking green tea is better than drinking water (so long as it's not sweetened) because it contains antioxidants whereas water doesn't.

It is true that Green Tea carries antioxidants that can help in the aid of fighting off cancer. I do not believe that Green Tea alone, would be capable of something like this without the help of a nutritionist and other cancer fighting options.
A little extra info on Green Tea. In order to benefit from the antioxidant powers you need the actual herb, such as found in a tea bag. A pre-made tea loses a lot of the benefits.
