Recall of Alcohol-Free Mouthwash Nationwide

These are like the little bottles that you receive if you are admitted into the hospital.

Product was distributed to hospitals, medical centers, and long term care facilities nationwide.

B. cepacia poses little medical risk to healthy people. However, people who have certain health problems such as weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis (CF) or on mechanical ventilators, may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia. B. cepacia is a known cause of infections in hospitalized patients. B. cepacia bacteria are often resistant to common antibiotics. The effects of B. cepacia on people vary widely, ranging from no symptoms at all, to serious respiratory infections, especially in patients with CF.

Unbelievable that this wasn't tested before being sent to the most vulnerable people to the bacteria!

OK, now that's cute. A product meant for people being admitted to hospitals getting a mouthwash that could make them sicker?

I think I saw something like this on a "Law and Order," where a product that was given to hospitals was tainted but because it wasn't being sold at a normal price then the manufacturer didn't care that it wasn't pristine.

At least they found this out before too may people got sick from it.

It's hardly a surprise though, given how many people get sick from various infections acquired when they are in hospital for another reason.

Such a shame that they can't get on top of this kind of thing.

A mouthwash is supposed to kill bacteria...
So heers is a question, what exactly was the mouthwash made with to allow such a bacteria to thrive?
Thanks but Ill bring my own colgate and listerine

A mouthwash without alcohol is better for those who are sensitive to alcohol, but it does carry the risk of harboring bacteria. How scary and awful that those at highest risk have this added worry.

I've often wondered how well those non-alcohol mouthwashes work myself. I've trained myself to just deal with Listerine (and the less potent flavor is lovely) but have a bottle of non Listerine to try when this one is gone. It worries me.
